What can be done to improve clicks rates amongst mobile users?

Thanks to Litmus and Mailchimp for this fantastic infographic that gives real insight into the relationship between devices and email interaction.

Their 6 month study was began by determining a user's preferred device by measuring their clicks.

From this they found that users who preferred desktops clicked on emails more than mobile and tablet users combined. In addition to this desktop users are more likely to go on to click on numerous links.

So what can be done to improve click rates amongst mobile users?

The impact of testing responsive design was promising and saw a big increase in unique clicks from mobile users, it also improved the click rate across all devices.

So, while it may seem obvious, it's definitely important not to forget that:

"You can't predict where subscribers will open their email. Even those that prefer mobile may open in desktop from time to time. Be sure to optimize your email so it looks great in every inbox." - Mailchimp and Litmus
